B2C Report States SEO Increasingly Important for Websites

Somerset, UK – A report from B2C (Business 2 Community) recently pointed out the increasing importance of proper SEO implementation for modern business websites. The report stated that all types and sizes of businesses could reap the benefits of properly implemented SEO when it came to their sites, as this would help to increase visibility and could assist in brand building.

As it is a specialist area, many businesses managers and owners who are responsible for getting the business website designed do not know enough about SEO to ensure that it is effectively used to provide maximum results. More are therefore turning to specialist, expert web designing companies and website development companies.

According to the recently published report from B2C, SEO implementation helps to ensure that the site's visibility is increased, which means that potentially many more people would get to see the site and this could lead to higher conversions as well as greater levels of success for the business.

The report stated: "It is important that you utilize several steps in order to get the high ranking that you want and to be considered a valuable asset to the online world using SEO techniques." It also went on to state that although it might involve investing more time and even more money for businesses " the process of optimizing your website is well-worth the efforts as you can gain more traffic to your site, more customers and more sales."

Many businesses are now using specialist agencies and companies in order to ensure SEO is properly and effectively used on their sites. This means that their sites can be optimised for search engines, this enabling them to reach a wider audience both on a national and international level. B2C pointed out in its report that SEO content alone is not sufficient to ensure the most effective implementation of SEO methods, adding that SEO in meta-tag descriptions and inside URLs was also an important part of the overall SEO effectiveness of a site.

The report also warned that black hat SEO, where content is stuffed with keywords and designed only for search engines rather than website visitors, could cause huge problems for businesses and their websites. It went on to state that this was why businesses needed to ensure SEO was implemented professionally.

Google's Penguin 2.0 Update will Target Poor Website Design and Content

The new Google Penguin 2.0 update is set to target poor website design and low quality content amongst other areas as part of the search engine giant's crackdown on questionable or low quality websites. Since the new Penguin update was released a few weeks ago, Google has stated that scrutiny of web development and content will be more stringent as part of the new update, focusing not only on the homepage of websites, as was the case previously, but also on pages within the sites.

The move means that more businesses will have to focus on improved web development and those creating new websites will need to ensure not only a user friendly design but also quality content that provides value to website visitors. Google officials announced the new Penguin update several months ago at an SMX marketing event and the update has now gone live.

Matt Cutts, head of the webspam team at Google, recently stated: "It's a brand new generation of algorithms. The previous iteration of Penguin would essentially only look at the home page of a site. The newer generation of Penguin goes much deeper and has a really big impact in certain small areas." He stated, as he has in the past, that website owners had to focus on providing users with a better experience.

The move means that a rising number of businesses and individuals may have to start from scratch with regards to their websites, and many may need to turn to professional web developers and companies in order to ensure they do not end up with a site that fails Google's increasingly stringent guidelines. Businesses looking to escape the wrath of the search engine giant will have to make sure their sites are properly designed, user friendly, and contain well written, accurate, and authoritative content.

The new Penguin update will also be targeting other areas such as black hat SEO, keyword stuffing, spam websites, manipulative links, non authority sites, hacked sites, and any practices that breach its Google Webmaster Guidelines.
